And it’s been a bumpy one - battling price increases, supply problems, lockdowns and staff shortages. We have however weathered the storm and come out on top. Our team is stronger than ever with a solid structure and some incredibly talented installers on board.
And despite all the challenges we are pretty happy with 2021! We won Viking Applicator of the Year and have also been awarded ‘Gold’ status by Sitewise. We are beginning a fun journey into the world of sustainability (read more below) and we also moved in to our new forever home in Wanaka - if you haven't visited us yet, please pop in!
We hope that there have been some ups to balance out the inevitable downs this year for you too. And from our team to yours, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a successful and prosperous 2022!
The journey to a sustainable business!
We've taken the plunge and have launched into a 12 week accelerator program on sustainability with Third Era Sustainability Consulting. The first stage of our journey involved talking about having a sustainably mindset and everyone doing their part. Our whole team has committed to 12 week ‘Give up’ challenge to help us see how changing our habits isn’t necessarily difficult, it is just different. Some things that have been given up by staff for the challenge include using the car, eating red meat (or eating any meat!), taking a reusable coffee cup and not buying plastic bottles of water or energy drinks. This has been a great way to build some sustainability into our personal lives.
The next stage of our journey has been to identify our business sustainability policy and top 5 sustainability priorities. In the new year we will undertake a waste audit, worked on our carbon emissions and surveyed our staff to get their sustainability inputs. Keep a look out for our policy on our website and in our social media!
Meet our 2022 structure
As many of you know we have had a few changes to the Watertight structure in 2021. After some trial and error we are happy to say we have now found a solid structure that works well and plays to our whole team strengths. Our new structure going into 2022 looks like this:

Marina Terraces
If you live in Wanaka you will have seen Wanaka Marina Terraces. These luxurious apartments with stunning views over the lake boast modern living with all the amenities.
Designed by Mason and Wales Architects and built by Southern Joint Ventures, the in ground construction was extremely technical due to the composition of the site - a natural spring!
Watertight installed Allco’s Volclay System for below ground areas. This bentoite clay product is designed to live under hydrostatic pressure and was the perfect solution for the project.
Watertight also installed Nuralite’s 2 layer torch on systems to each apartment's balconies, and Viking’s TPO membrane was installed to the internal gutters.
This project really showcased the best that we can offer through our suppliers. It was a great project to be part.
Outsultation
Nuralite have launched their design guide for Outsulation High Performance Walls for those looking to build above the minimum building code. They are also offering a webinar to find out more about utilising the product with speakers from Sustainable Engineering and Outright Continuous Insulation. Find out more about this product and webinar.
Watertight Systems installed the continuous outsulation on the beautiful Abodo Showroom in the Cardrona Valley.
Our Christmas opening hours
We will be closed for the Christmas break from Thursday 23rd December and opening again on Monday 10th January.
New Wanaka office & social networks
