Roofing
August 24, 2021
...until now! Well, lockdown took us by surprise but hopefully we will all be back to work soon. In the meantime, we trust you are staying safe and well.
It's been a little while since our last newsletter in February but with good reason. Like many of our trade partners, we've been heads down and working hard! Our efforts have paid off and we're pleased to announce that a couple of awards have come our way.
We have even managed to fit in some events - work related of course! Including a mid year staff event at Highlands (pictured above) where we had a bit of friendly competition in the go karts and a vision and values session.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working with you through the rest of 2021.
Please read on for more about what's been happening.
Note: our office team are all go at Alert Level 4 so please get in touch if needed. We'll be back on the tools at Level 3 (taking all the necessary safety precautions).
After being nominated twice before, Watertight Systems won Viking Applicator of the Year out of 145 applicators from New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The award is based on a huge range of criteria, such as reputation, quality of work, communication skills and ability to problem solve. We'd like to say a special thank you to our staff who were instrumental in meeting these criteria, we wouldn't have made it without them.
The highlight of the awards evening was getting hugs from our national treasure, Hillary Barry, who was MC for the evening. Who doesn't love Hillary? It was a brilliant night and, we hope you agree, we all scrubbed up pretty well!
We also were nominated for the Viking Residential Project of the Year for our work installing Torch On Viking Warm Roof on the impressive low-energy home, Te Toka at Jack's Point.
We'd like to extend our congratulations to the builders DCD Construction who won the Master Builders Southern Supreme Award and the House of the Year Award for this project.
More about Te Toka (The Rock)
Solid as its schist foundations, Te Toka is both a lakeside sanctuary and an inspirational reminder that a home should be a long-lasting legacy.
Clad in stone excavated directly from the building site, this majestic 820sqm property exudes solidity, enhanced by fortress-thick insulated concrete form walls and 3.2m ceilings.
The Judges described the project as "an exemplar of innovative solutions in sustainability and craftsmanship, with its sheer size demanding uncommon expertise."
In other exciting news, two more projects that Watertight were involved in, won awards at the recent Master Builders Awards in Invercargill.
Dunlop Builders won the Gold Award for Southern House Renovation of the Year for their Penrith Park project in Wanaka where Watertight installed Viking TPO gutters and Torch On tanking systems.
Dunlop also won a Gold Award for Showhome of the Year for the Abode Showhome in Cardrona. This was a very unique project where Watertight Systems installed Nuralite Nuraply 3PM and Enertherm 100 mm Insulation Boards to the entire structure, effectively wrapping the whole building providing a high level of insulation and watertightness.
We are in our new Wanaka office which looks great, we’ve completely fitted out the yard and office. Once we're out of lockdown, please come and say hello next time you're in the area.
In the meantime, please visit us virtually by checking out our new social media channels, see below. We're still uploading content but we'd love you to give us a follow, we'll be sure to follow back!
