While many were barbecuing and boating, we were swamped over the holiday break and have brought several people on board to strengthen our long-serving team of waterproofing specialists. We are so happy to welcome Dave Dorset back in a supervisor capacity in our Queenstown team. He’s working alongside Andrew Bull, who has stepped in together with Vitor and Dave to run the Queenstown team. If you need to contact any of them, give them a call or email: Andrew 021761641 Dave 0212892220 Vitor 0273925200 In Wanaka, Mathias Alvarez has been promoted to supervisor and will help Rodger in the day to day running of the Wanaka operation. We, too, did a bit of barbecuing! If 2020 were a landmark, it would have been a hill covered in cowpats. To bring in the New Year, we got the entire Watertight team together one fine Friday evening at the top of “The Hill”. We gathered to have delicious BBQ, take away the taste of rolling lockdowns and to seize the chance to raise a glass to a new year filled with potential. Here we all are enjoying a sausage or two!

Just before we down tools and call an extended smoko from 20th December for a few weeks, back to it on 13th January, let’s have a quick recap of what’s being going on in Watertight World… They Grow Up So Quick! Watertight Has Finally Left Home! With the ever-increasing workload in the Queenstown Lakes area, we’ve had to take on-board more applicators to keep up with demand! So, after 13 years Watertight has moved to a ‘proper’ office! The new office is located at Unit 3, 12 Frederick Street in Wanaka - the new spot checked all the essential boxes. 1. Modern. 2. Spacious. 3. Close to the coffee and pie shop! 4. The yard is just around the corner on Connell Terrace. Our first office was in the spare room, then it moved to the back of the garage, then we built a garage next to the driveway, and now finally the business has left Andrew and Kate’s home! Feel free to pop in any time! We're Growing, But There's No Pain... Growth means more hands, and new hands-on-deck means there’s no better time to focus on team training and staff culture, and that’s precisely what we have been doing. …coz we train, train, and again. We aim to have all staff ‘on the same page’ so that any member of our team, on any work site will follow the same procedures, give the same service and produce the same high quality of work. Implementing this has involved creating a more detailed inhouse training program, covering all aspects of the job from guest services and communication to technical membrane application. We have also been sending more staff to Auckland for supplier-specific training as well as hosting supplier training sessions at the Watertight Yard. Andrew says: “At Watertight, we value our people. We feel proud to have a high percentage of long term staff who have been with the company for years. Some of our newer, up and coming applicators have recently enrolled for their Membrane Roofing Apprenticeship. We are pleased to be supporting them through their career advancement and now offer this to any keen staff member.”

We’re at the pointy end of the year, and we’ve got some things to share. So we’ll keep this short, and sweet… Do Architects Dream In Colour? Viking New TPO Colour Range It’s Viking new and Viking colourful. Viking Roofspec have recently added four new earthy tones to their Enviroclad TPO membrane colour palette; providing aesthetic versatility and design flexibility. New additions to the Enviroclad TPO membrane colour range include: ‘Mansard Brown’, ‘Patina Green’, ‘Rock Brown’, and ‘Slate Grey’, and just like the original white and grey Enviroclad membrane systems, this coloured range offers absolute watertight integrity for low-slope roofs. Here at Watertight Systems we have been doing more and more re-roofing projects on existing properties whose membrane roofing has come to the end of its life. Technologies have improved a huge amount over the past 20 years, so replacing an old membrane system can significantly improve the comfort and performance of a home, and a new system will function for a longer duration than the membrane systems of old. The new warm roof systems available now work particularly well for re-roofing low pitched roofs. We can simply lay a new metal substrate over the existing roof, cover with PIR insulation and top with either a 2 layer torch on membrane or TPO rubber member. Owners of homes who’ve carried outthis work say their homes are far warmer and more comfortable, almost like living in a new house. Before And After Photos
